Marketing 2029: build the infrastructure before you hit the gas

SoMe. Newsletters. Webinars. SEO. Google. Video. AI search. Where do your customers do their research, and where do they spend their time?

Every channel you opt out of, a competitor opts into.

Now, I'm not saying that 2029 will belong to the companies active in the most channels. Absolutely not. You should still choose them with care. But you need to build an infrastructure that makes it easy to distribute your communication to as many platforms as possible. Without burning out the team or the budget.

Content is an asset if you treat it like one

In many organisations, content is produced as if it were a consumable. One post. One campaign. A webinar that "just happened."

Successful organisations think differently. They produce knowledge as a strategic asset.

A webinar isn't a one-off event. It's raw material that can become:

  • Articles
  • Sales presentations
  • Newsletters
  • Shorter clips
  • LinkedIn posts
  • Concrete tips in the sales dialogue

An insight should be able to live for a long time and in many formats. That requires structure. Your infrastructure.

Distribution is just as important as production

The biggest mistake many make is putting 80 percent of their energy into creating content and 20 percent into distributing it.

It should be the other way around.

In 2029, the winners are the companies that:

  • Have a clear plan for how each insight should be repackaged
  • Ensure that sales uses the material in a structured way
  • Have owned channels that continuously build relationships
  • Use paid distribution strategically, not desperately when the flow of leads dries up

It's not about being everywhere. It's about being consistent where it matters.

Build a marketing infrastructure, not just a content calendar

A content calendar is operational. A marketing infrastructure is strategic.

It consists of:

  • A clear position (What you'll consistently talk about)
  • A knowledge engine (How you systematically produce your expert content)
  • A distribution model (How each insight gets maximum longevity)
  • A connection to sales (How the content drives dialogue and business)

When this is in place, you can pick up the pace without losing direction. Without infrastructure, every initiative becomes heavy and dependent on individuals.

2029 demands scalability

AI makes production faster. But AI won't build the structure for you.

The real competitive advantage lies in:

  • Having a clear editorial line
  • Having a systematic process
  • Having a clear division of responsibility
  • Measuring what actually drives business

That's the difference between one-off efforts and an infrastructure built to last.

So the challenge for 2029 isn't to debate which channels we should appear in, but rather "have we built an infrastructure that ensures our knowledge actually reaches the market consistently, in the channels that matter then?"

When the next recession inevitably comes, it's the companies with the strongest presence, the clearest position and the most systematic approach that stand firm. The others start over.
